The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to deepen. At the Ottawa Community Foundation, we’ve seen the impact on mental health, in food security, and on the staff of frontline organizations. We’ve also seen countless examples of innovation including the move to online services and the creative deployment of contactless volunteering. Many of these responses have improved access to services and they will continue to be relevant post-pandemic. 

That’s why we continue to welcome and encourage your support of the COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund. We will continue to address urgent, ongoing, and emerging needs and support innovation in response to the pandemic. We will invest in leveraging what has been learned during the pandemic to support the transition to thoughtful recovery and transformational rebuild.

The COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund from the Ottawa Community Foundation continues during this time of uncertainty.

This rapid response fund supports urgent, emerging, and ongoing issues, particularly those being experienced disproportionately within vulnerable sectors. Priorities are changing. This fund is designed to respond to pressing needs, to leverage ideas and to share lessons learned during the pandemic to support the transition to thoughtful recovery and transformational rebuild.

Service-delivery organizations have taken on more urgent dimensions, rapidly adapting to new realities. It is pressing, heartbreaking, and tough, but we have seen evolution and innovation.

Early on, the Ottawa Community Foundation administered grants in consultation with a citywide network of organizations. Together, we sought guidance from the community to proactively identify potential grant recipients. Through the Rapid Response Fund, we’ll continue to work with our partners, donors, and the community to address ongoing needs.
