CHARLES STUART CHRISTIE
March 30, 1983 - May 10, 2019

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Charles Stuart Christie announce his death on Friday, May 10, 2019, another victim of the fentanyl plague ravaging North America.
Charles, or Stu, was a skilled artisan in stone and flora, his work adorning homes in Winnipeg and Ottawa. He struggled courageously for many years with both cancer and the need for pain relief, but his family and friends will forever cherish his generous heart, loving loyalty, his joy in creation and all creatures, and his love for life lived with boundless laughter.
Stuart is survived by parents, Janice and James; brothers, Andrew (Claire and nephew Wee Alec) and Nick (Florencia).
Special notes of warm thanks to his dear friend Erin; his physician Dr. Oleski of Access Fort Garry Clinic for his humanity and compassion; and, of course his faithful dog Bella.
Interment will be private to the family at MacLaren's Cemetery in Wakefield, Québec.

  • To you both, Losing a child before "time" is impossible for most of us to even imagine. May you know that my thoughts and my compassion are with you both. Be gentle to yourselves, and walk with his artist soul. In caring for your healing, Karen - Posted by: Karen E. Toole (Shared ministry ) on: May 26, 2019

  • I am so very sorry for your loss. I am glad you love him enough to honour all of his life, even the difficult parts. May your memories bring more smiles than tears. - Posted by: Heather Sandilands (colleague) on: May 25, 2019

  • I am so sorry to read of the loss of your son. Fentanyl took my kind, generous grandson in 2017, so I share your frustration and anger at the plague. Artists seem disproportionately affected by addictions. I wish I had known your talented, creative son. - Posted by: Linda Rodgers (grandmother of another victim) on: May 23, 2019

  • Jim & Janice - I am so sorry for your loss and the unimaginable grief. Thank you for your courage in naming the cause of Stu's death - the courage it takes to tell the truth and to break down stigma. I will be thinking of you and yours, and holding you gently in my heart. - Posted by: barb janes (colleague) on: May 23, 2019
