DEBORAH CLAIRE DEBEER
(nee ENGLISH)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden death of Debby DeBeer on Monday, October 7, 2019, at Oakview Place, Winnipeg, at the age of 68 years.
Debby was the beloved wife of Gerry DeBeer, mother of Marnie and James, mother-in-law of Andy and Daryl, grandmother of Cass, Simon and Alaina. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Margaret English.
Debby loved being a mom and grandma. She enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting and a good cup of coffee. She will be deeply missed but we know she is in the loving hands of God.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Avenue.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oakview for their kindness and care. Donations in her name may be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • My mother Muriel and Debbie’s dad James were sister and brother. Debbie was my cousin. My condolences to Debbie’s family for their loss. Debbie was close to my sister Elizabeth and I especially when we were younger. We would have sleepovers, go to Grand Beach together, and stood up for each other when we got married. I was trying to reconnect with Debbie by searching on the internet only to find this sad news. Again, my deepest sympathy. • Debbie's Mom (Margaret) and my Mom (Jenny) were sisters, and I really got to know Debbie when our family lived in Winnipeg for 2 years in the 60's. We were about the same age (young teenagers) and shared many interests and spent lots of time together. Auntie Margaret even sewed matching outfits for us. Debbie also visited us out in Victoria. Mom would keep me informed about Debby and her family whenever she visited Winnipeg, but after Mom died in 2004 we lost that connection. Just today I decided to try and track her down on the internet, where I was shocked and saddened to find out that she passed away last year. It is very upsetting as she was far too young, and I regret not trying to find her earlier. My deepest condolences to her family, she was a lovely lady. - Posted by: Susan (Pike) Wendorf (Cousin) on: Aug 03, 2020

  • I'll always remember Debby's infectious laugh. Family was very important to her. She was very proud of her children. For some reason the memory that comes to mind was when she, another co-worker Karlo and myself snuck away at supper to A&W. The 3 of us always had plenty of laughs. • Our family was very sad to learn of Debby's passing. Our daughters spent many happy times with Marnie and Jim from a very early age. Debby was a loving and kind person who will be greatly missed. We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Gerry, Marnie, Jim, and all of the family at this very difficult time. Sincerely, Margo, Jack, Michelle and Kim - Posted by: The Laing family (old friends) on: Oct 14, 2019

  • Debby and I met as we watched our grandsons play soccer.....games led to coffee visits and that how our friendship began. We enjoyed each other’s company but sadly she fell ill and but was thrilled when I found out she was panelled to Oakview and I’d see her once a week. She will be remembered for her great love of her family, friends and all she met. She is at peace with God and I’m thankful, for sharing part of her journey.
