  • Publication number: 20090019056
Abstract: There is provided a sensor node, a network, and a method for accessing data from a sensor service. Sensor nodes comprise information related to sensor service(s) they provide and to services provided by other sensor nodes of the network, including description of external sensor services, the address of the sensor nodes providing the external sensor services, and identification of the service owner. When a sensor node receives a request for a sensor service from a requester, it determines that it does not support the sensor service, and further identifies another sensor node that supports the sensor service. Then, in a first variant, the sensor node returns to the requester the other sensor node's identification so that the requester can request the sensor service. In another variant, the sensor node requests from the other sensor node data related to the requested sensor service, and transmits it to the requester.

  • Publication number: 20080205267
Abstract: A system and method for service differentiation enabling a user to express the level of importance of a session being established and change the level during the session while satisfying QoS profiles. An extension of the 3GPP IMS architecture includes a Session Prioritization Function (SPF) in communication with a S-CSCF and a Context Information Base (CIB) which provides network contextual information. Upon receiving a session initiation or change request, the S-CSCF queries the SPF for a resource allocation/deallocation decision. The SPF consults session prioritization policies and the contextual information to make an informed decision. If the load on the IMS network is normal or light, the SPF utilizes an upper limit policy to limit resources for each service class. Otherwise, the SPF limits the size of multi-party sessions and utilizes soft and hard preemption to transfer network resources between classes.

  • Publication number: 20050228895
Abstract: A method, a Web Service Gateway (WSG) for presence, and a presence server that responsive to a request for presence information received from a watcher, filters the presence information of a plurality of presence entities based on one or more criteria received from the watcher in the request, and respond back to the watcher only with the presence information of those presence entities that match the desired criteria. The request may comprise identification of a plurality of presence entities. In a first variant, the WSG for presence, which interfaces with the presence server, obtains the presence information of the plurality of presence entities from the server, filters them, and returns to the watcher the presence information of the presence entities matching the criteria. In a second variant, the presence server receives the request, performs the filtering, and responds to the watcher with the presence information of the matching presence entities.

  • Patent number: 6940847
Abstract: A system and method of accessing services from end terminals disposed in an integrated telecommunications network having a packet-switched network (PSN) portion such as, for example, a network portion using the Internet Protocol (IP) and a circuit-switched network (CSN) portion such as, for example, a wireless telephony network portion. A generalized service invocation and realization architecture includes one or more call control modules modified to include service-related Detection Points (DPs), a Service Access component or instance that is created when a new DP is encountered, and one or several service proxies which invoke services on behalf of the Service Access component and mediate between the call control modules and services. A common Service Logic Environment is implemented for local services, mobile agent services, and remote services. The PSN portion is preferably realized as a Voice-over-IP (VoIP) network having a gateway connected to the CSN portion.

  • Publication number: 20040078256
Abstract: A method, system, and scheduler mobile for scheduling events on behalf of participants, wherein the agent receives from the event organizer a list of participants along with an intended timeframe for the event. In a first embodiment, the agent is dispatched to at least one calendar server storing participants' calendar information, retrieves that information for the intended timeframe, and schedules the event. If no suitable timeframe exists for all participants, the agent invokes negotiating agents of the participants for rescheduling previously booked events conflicting with the multi-party event. According to a second embodiment, a plurality of scheduler mobile agents are dispatched on a plurality of calendar servers. Each scheduler mobile agent retrieves calendar information related to participants whose calendars are stored on the server, and creates a timeframe proposal for the event. The scheduler mobile agents further negotiate with each other based on the timeframe proposals for the final event.
