EXHIBITION & INTERVENTIONS IN THE SPACE

OPENING

February 3, 2022: 5 p.m.

Having explored power dynamics in his latest creation, versatile artist Thierry Huard now turns his queer and kaleidoscopic gaze on interpersonal relationships, converting the MAI gallery into a dark and cavernous cocoon. On this fertile ground, conducive to exploring the notion of intimacy, Huard, with performer Nate Yaffe, juxtaposes the porosity of interlaced bodies with the discomfort of extreme proximity to reveal the invisible bonds that form human relationships. This interdependence unfolds through an array of devices (visual, textile and sound), some of which were developed in collaboration with electronic engineer and composer, Lucas Paris. A unique installation, evolving as well as immersive, les liens sublimates the sprawling practice of its creator’s anthropological approach to explore one’s relationship to themself and to others while questioning the limits of interpersonal relationships.
