A: Based on the need to align with all provincial and public health guidelines, we expect to be able to accommodate 1,200+ facility users throughout the day. We are committed to maintaining the highest safety standards and therefore are operating with stricter precautions/protocols and lower capacity limits. We will be monitoring attendance and use and will continue to make alterations.
All equipment that was available in the fall will be available when we reopen, some in a reduced capacity to accommodate physical distancing requirements.  These areas of reduced capacity will be reviewed over the next two weeks.

ACTIVITY AREAS REGULATIONS

1. Q: What is an "activity pod"?
A: We have configured and placed equipment throughout the ARC to maximize capacity with physical distancing requirements, creating "activity pods".  "Pods", are structured in different ways:
  • Each piece of cardio equipment is 1 pod (i.e. Treadmill = 34 pods, Elliptical = 20 pods, Spin Bikes, etc.)
  • Squat Rack Pods will have a dedicated space with bench, standardized set of weights, stretching mat
  • Free weight Pods will have a designated space with bench, standardize set of weights, stretching mat, etc.
  • Stacked weight machines ("selectorized") will be grouped into 4-5 machines designed to work multiple muscle groups.
Each activity pod will be limited to one person per timeslot.

2. Q: How will I find my way through the building to my activity pod?
A:  All activity areas/pods, traffic flow patterns, entrance and exit points have been identified with signs. There are directional and information signs are throughout the facility or you can ask a friendly staff member for assistance.  For everyone's safety, please follow the signs and/or the direction of A&R staff.

3. Q: Can I work out with a friend?
A: No, initially we are re-opening for individual, pre-booked workouts only.

4. Q: Can I have a spotter with me in an activity pod?
A: No, initially we are re-opening for individual workouts only. Please limit your weight selections and modify your workout to ensure you can lift safely on your own.

5. Q: Can I move between activity pods, workout areas or floors?
A: No, at this time, you must stay within your pre-booked activity area.

6. Q: Can I use multiple weight machines during one session?
A: At this stage of re-opening, other than pods designed to incorporate multiple machines, facility users are not able to use multiple pieces of equipment in one session, share or move equipment between pods.  These measures are in place to ensure physical distancing, and to ensure we can sanitize each piece of equipment between users. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but the health and safety of all users is our top priority.
