Parking

Parking is free and plentiful at the Farmers’ Market! Saturday parking is available at the rear lot of the CRA Tax Centre, with additional parking at the Terra Nova Road lot. On regular business days, public parking is available in front of the Market Building and in the Terra Nova Road lot. There is also ample street-side parking in the immediate neighbourhood.

We are proud to have the St. John’s Farmers’ Market located in one of the most accessible buildings in St. John’s. You’ll find wheelchair accessible aisles and doors, in addition to indoor/outdoor seating and gender neutral washrooms.

How to Pay

Check the vendor profile pages for payment details. The Market is equipped with two ATM machines. All user fees from the ATM go towards operating costs for the Market building.

  • What can I buy at the Market?

    You can buy almost anything at the St. John’s Farmers’ Market, from fresh local produce, game, fish, bakery items and local arts and crafts including knitted goods, needlepoints, soaps, jewelry and pottery. We also have a diverse and eclectic array of hot food items – everything from a traditional Newfoundland saltfish cake to a bowl of pho.

  • Besides food, what other attractions are at the Market?

    Local musicians, authors and entertainers. Yoga and Tai Chi, dance and theatrical performances.

  • Is the Market accessible?

    The St. John’s Farmers’ Market is one of the most accessible buildings in the City. Wheelchair accessible aisles and doors, water filtration systems and indoor/outdoor seating. Gender-neutral washrooms.

    Every Saturday year round– 9:00am to 4:00pm

  • Can I take public transit to the Market?

    Yes – Public transit Shelter, Transit map and bus stop is located directly outside the St. John’s Farmers’ Market building at the Freshwater Road entrance.

    Parking is free.

    Saturday parking is available on the rear lot of the CRA Tax Centre. Additional parking is also available at the Terra Nova Road lot.

    On regular business days, public parking is available in front of the St. John’s Farmers’ Market building and in the Terra Nova Road space.

  • How do I pay for things at the market?

    Many of our vendors are cash only, some do accept Visa, Master Card, and Debit. Check the vendor profile page for details.

  • Are there things for kids to do at the Market?

    The St. John’s Farmers’ Market has created a new space for the little ones to chill. Games, books, toys and activities will be on hand each Market Day.

    As well, local performance groups will perform periodically throughout the season.

  • Can I volunteer at the Market?

    So many volunteer/mentoring opportunities exist at the St. John’s Farmers’ Market.

    The St. John’s Farmers’ Market is equipped with 11 gender neutral washrooms, 2 of which are wheelchair accessible.

  • Can I bring my pet to the Market?

    Sorry no pets inside, allowed outside the Market venue only.

  • How can I support the Market?

    Buy Local!! Our vendors are here to supply you with your every need to feed you and your family fresh locally grown produce.

    Visit our Market Shop! – Grab a reusable coffee mug, t-shirt, Market Bag and a host of other Market swag. All proceeds go directly to help offset the costs of managing the building.

    Visit our Market Café! – The new Market Café will seat approximately 150 Market patrons. A big jump from our now 10. Grab a coffee, a pastry, or other treat. All proceeds from sales in the Market Café go directly to help offset costs of managing the building.

    Visit our ATM! – Forgot your cash? We got you covered. And all ATM service charges don’t go to the bank – they go directly to St. John’s Farmers’ Market to help offset the costs of managing the building.

    Buy a 50/50 ticket! – Pick up your 50/50 ticket when you pick up your coffee at the Market Café. 50/50 will be drawn at the end of each Market day.

    Donate! – Become a Friend of the St. John’s Farmers’ Market with your one-time, monthly, or annual donation. All donations big and small are welcomed!

  • Do I need to bring my own bags?

    Yes Please! We strongly encourage reusable bags. And don’t worry if you left yours at home. You can pick up a Market Bag at our Market Shop. And while we are on that subject, did you know that the St. John’s Farmers’ Market strives for 100% waste free environment? Market dishes and disposable take-out containers are made from 100% recyclable materials and you will find 8 recycling containers throughout the Market Building to help you manage your waste properly. We also compost!

  • Is there WI-FI at the Market?

    Yes, there is free WI-FI at the Market – one for customers and one for our vendors.
