STEAM PEI offers a variety of themed camps in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) for Island youth across PEI.

Science of Skincare with Dr. Rodriguez
Presented in: English

Do you have a teen that is into skincare and is wondering what product she should by next? STEAM PEI partnered with Dr. Rodriguez, the only dermatologist on the island, for an afternoon of fun and learnings about skincare!  Together, we’ll explore the science behind skincare, create our own personalized products, and equip your teen with valuable knowledge and tools to care for their skin effectively. Don’t miss out on this opportunity for your teen to learn, experiment, and have a blast!

For female-identifying students from age 12-18.

Sunday, May 19th from 1PM – 4PM.

Girls GET Math

Hey girls, what do you think of Math?

😍? 👿? 😐? 🥲? 💩?

Whatever it is, let’s talk about it! Join STEAM PEI for the after-school program Girls GET Math to see how math can be fun! We’ll talk about math, but this is NOT math class. We’ll be making smoothies, creating art, and playing games! If you stick it out for eight weeks, you’ll get a super cool surprise custom item to take home.

Boring note for parents: This program aims to increase the participants’ confidence in math. This program is free, thanks to support from the PEI Interministerial Women’s Secretariat.

For female-identifying students in Grades 5 and 6 who attend Amherst Cove Consolidated School.

Potions and Explosions: Chemistry in Action
Presented in: English

What is Chemistry? Discover and explore with different hands-on activities each week! Explore polymers by making slime. Experiment to find the optimal combination of chemicals to make bottle rockets blast off. See a catalyst in action while watching an elephant toothpaste demonstration. Record your observations in your new science notebook that you get to take home. We love science and want to share our excitement with you! After-school program for students in grades 2-6 who attend West Royalty Elementary. Cost: $90/student.

Wednesdays, from May 15 to June 19 from 2:35-3:35pm.

For grades 2 to 6 who attend West Royalty Elementary.

Workshops

Our in-school STEAM (science, technology engineering, arts, math) experiences are based on, and enhance the Prince Edward Island curriculum. Our activities are hands-on, in-depth, and spark excitement in our students. We have workshops for Grades K – 9 covering a range of topics including: geometry, engineering, forces and motion, simple machines, and architecture.

STEAM PEI also offers a number of 60-90 minute workshops for other groups such as Girl Guides, 4H, and other day camps.

Hosting a special event or festival? We can help you deliver exciting, hands-on ‘edutainment’, and make it an experience your guests will never forgot. 

We also provide custom-designed team-building workshops focused on improving team communication and building leadership skills through engaging science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities.

Makerspace Pricing

  • Drop in and Play: $20+HST per participant per day (one parent free per kid)
  • Open Makerspace Time: $20+HST per day
  • Monthly Makerspace Membership: $60+HST standard; $50+HST student/senior
