The Goal
To raise $8500 to purchase 19 baskets (for 18 holes and 1 practice basket) to complete a championship level disc golf course just across the river from Devon, Alberta.
The Plan
The Edmonton area disc golf courses have become jam-packed in the last couple of years, as more and more people learn about the game (and COVID forced people to find new hobbies!). I would love to provide a dedicated disc golf space to help grow the sport.
The land that the course will be built on is owned by my family. My Grandpa homesteaded the area right after WWII. His name was Robert Bailey, and now the area of land near the river there is called Bailey's Crossing, so the course will be called Bailey's Crossing Disc Golf Course.
The property is a mix of hilly forest and farmland, and, besides the local wildlife, is mostly used by my dad. He organizes running races (check out riversedgeultra .ca) to raise money for my sister's (Sarah Wallace's) organization in Haiti, Olive Tree Projects (definitely check out olivetreeprojects .com). Olive Tree Projects runs a midwifery clinic and a recycling centre. I hope that this course will be another way to help support Olive Tree Projects and the work they do there by eventually running fundraiser tournaments each year (as well as running PDGA sanctioned tournaments).
As this is a course on private land, and I will be paying for insurance, course improvements, and upkeep, it will be a pay-to-play course. There will be a $50/year membership fee, or a $5 honor-system drop-box fee. Members will get a bag tag, the benefit of discounted tournament entry fees, and invites to members-only events. Any extra money raised through memberships or tournaments will either go into improving the course, or will be donated to Olive Tree Projects.
Course construction, including basket installation and tee pad placement, is planned for summer 2021. Hopefully a tournament can happen Fall 2021, with a full season of league play and tournaments for 2022.

What We Need and What You Get
The fundraising goal is $8500, which will be used to purchase 19 pro baskets and hardware (~$500/basket with shipping). I am committed to funding the rest of the costs (turf tee pads, tee signs, landscaping materials, etc.) myself.
If you can help me build this course the whole Edmonton area will benefit from it!

$5000 - ....gosh...I don't know. You're pretty amazing, so....you get a lifetime VIP membership (we'll figure out what VIP means later), hole sponsorship, course sign sponsorship, and you get a hug from me (once hugs are allowed again).
Who am I?
I am Andrew Wallace! I am a husband, father of four, PE/math teacher, and former Devon area resident. I discovered disc golf four years ago and absolutely fell in love with it. As a PE teacher my main goal is to help kids find activities that will keep them Active for Life. I think disc golf is perfect for that, and I want to provide another option for people to get out and enjoy this great game! I have the land, I have a plan, now I just need your support to help make this goal a reality.
