On June 1, 2020 - Without any public consultation, the Government of Alberta rescinded a Coal Development Policy. As a result 1.5 million hectares of formerly protected environmentally significant lands in the Eastern Slopes of the Rocky Mountains of Alberta are now open for coal exploration, development and mining.
We are fighting to ensure that a policy is in place to protect our mountains and water supply.
