Lei Sun

I studied Mathematics at Fudan University as an undergrad and obtained my Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Chicago in 2001. I met my colleague and future husband Radu in Chicago, and we were lucky to be part of the Department of Statistical Sciences, Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto since 2001.

My thesis work, under the supervision of Mary Sara McPeek, was on "Two Statistical Problems in Human Genetics", and I have never looked elsewhere since then! My research program deals with a wide range of applied problems arising from genetic and genomic studies of complex human traits, for which statistical methodologies fall into the categories of multiple hypothesis testing, robust association methods and selective inference. We also try to implement methods as open-resource programs.
