Victoria, BC – Officers arrested a man yesterday afternoon after a stabbing at a downtown multi-unit residential housing facility.

Patrol officers were called to a multi-unit residential housing facility in the 800-block of Johnson Street just before 2:30 p.m. yesterday for a report that a man had stabbed another man. When officers arrived, they discovered the victim suffering from potentially life-threatening stab wounds to the head. He was being given first aid by facility staff.

B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics arrived, began treatment and transported the victim to hospital. After treatment, his injuries are now considered non-life-threatening, but potentially life-altering.

Officers identified the suspect and took him into custody without incident. The suspect was transported to VicPD cells.

The man, who has previous convictions for assault causing bodily harm and drug trafficking offences, faces recommended charges of assault causing bodily harm. He was held for court.
