Victoria, BC – Investigators are seeking dashcam footage and witnesses after an arson at a Victoria residence early this morning.

Shortly after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, Patrol officers and Victoria Fire Department firefighters attended to a single family home in the 1100-block of Caledonia Avenue for a report of a structure fire. On scene, first responders encountered the front entryway to the home fully engulfed in flames. Four occupants of the home had evacuated while an additional occupant required ladder rescue by firefighters from a window ledge on the second floor.

One occupant suffered potentially life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident. VicPD officers provided first aid and that person was transported to hospital. Their injuries are now considered non-life-threatening.

Detectives with VicPD’s Major Crimes Unit are continuing the investigation into this arson and are asking for your assistance. Investigators are seeking additional information, witnesses, and dashcam footage or video footage from the area of Cook Street and Caledonia Avenue between midnight and 1:30 a.m. this morning.
