Victoria, BC – VicPD officers ensured that attendees were safe and a Jewish film festival’s events were able to take place after threats were reported this weekend.

Officers began investigating and created a safety plan after being notified Friday that threats targeting a Jewish film festival, and the Jewish community at large, had been made. While investigators are not sharing the details of the threats themselves, the threats made specific reference to the film festival’s location in the 800-block of Douglas Street, and included additional concerning details. Specially-trained VicPD officers responded and swept the venue and the surrounding area to ensure that it was safe.

Out of an abundance of caution, VicPD officers provided a highly-visible presence at the venue’s events over the weekend to ensure attendees were safe.

Our investigation into the threats themselves remains active and is ongoing.
