Transforming Health with Integrated Care (THINC)
Backgrounder
The Transforming Health with Integrated Care (THINC) initiative is comprised of a suite of funding opportunities that together support health research projects, people, teams and a coordinating hub that together advance knowledge creation, capacity development (training), and knowledge mobilization in pursuit of health care that is coordinated and centered around people’s and distinct populations’ specific needs. Overall, the THINC initiative aims to advance evidence-informed integrated care policies and interventions that advance the Quadruple Aim (i.e., improving the patient experience of care; the health of populations; the health care provider experience; and value for money) and health equity. The funding componentsFootnote * include:
- Catalyst Grants: These one-year funding opportunities support knowledge creation, implementation and/or policy analysis projects aligned to one or more priority research areas, one of which is integration of care.
- Implementation Science Team Grants: These grants support teams whose research will inform the implementation, evaluation, and sharing of transformative evidence-informed integrated care policies and strategies for delivering care based on collaborations within and beyond the formal health care delivery system.
- Embedded Research: Recipients of these grants will be embedded in health system organizations, where they will apply their research and analytic talents to critical health system challenges.
- Knowledge Mobilization and Impact Hub: The Knowledge Mobilization and Impact Hub will support networking and collaboration among all funded THINC grantees and knowledge users and foster the translation of research evidence into improved health care policies and practice.
