More than 1.7 million Albertans have already entered the Open for Summer Lottery. The first of three $1 million prizes has now been awarded to Tracey McIvor of Langdon, Alberta.

Hundreds of Albertans will also receive Calgary Stampede family admissions and ride packages, rodeo and performance packages and general admissions. Winners will be notified.

To date, 72.8 per cent of eligible Albertans have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, including 42.4 per cent who are now fully vaccinated with two doses.

“Thanks to the Open for Summer Lottery, it pays to get vaccinated, in more ways than one. While I know Albertans will enjoy these prizes, with greater vaccine protection against COVID-19 than ever before, we all win. Congratulations to today’s winners, we are all celebrating with you as we lift restrictions and open for summer.”

Jason Kenney, Premier

“Lotteries may be about the luck of the draw, but we can control how protected we are against COVID-19. Getting two doses of vaccine significantly decreases your chance of infection, so I continue to encourage Albertans to book their appointments as soon as possible.”

Tyler Shandro, Minister of Health

Get vaccinated and register for upcoming draws

To encourage Albertans to get their second COVID-19 vaccine doses, two additional Open for Summer Lottery draws for $1 million will follow in August 2021 and September 2021. Any Albertan over the age of 18 who registers for the lottery and receives two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine by the draw dates will be eligible to win. This includes Albertans who were vaccinated outside of the province and those vaccinated before the lottery was announced.

Albertans 18 and older who registered for the first draw, have been automatically entered for these subsequent draws. To register for the lottery and for a complete list of rules and eligibility requirements, please visit alberta.ca/lottery.

Registration for the August draw will close August 24, 2021, and the winner of the $1 million cash prize is planned to be announced August 31, 2021.

Registration for the September draw will close September 23, 2021, and the winner of the $1 million cash prize is planned to be announced September 30, 2021.

Along with a grand prize of one million dollars for each draw, additional once-in-a-lifetime prizes are up for grabs. Visit alberta.ca/lottery for the details.
