Wilfrid Laurier University’s Brantford campus is presenting its second Winter’s a Drag on Jan. 24.
The free event, held at the Sanderson Centre, will feature performances by professional drag artists, an artist meet-and-greet, a photo booth and prize giveaways. The event is open to all.
Last year’s first Winter’s a Drag event was “incredibly well received,” Beth Sanders, Laurier’s campus experience co-ordinator, said in a news release.
“And we look forward to welcoming guests from the campus and the broader community again this year.
“It’s a fun, warm and inclusive event, providing a welcome evening of entertainment to break up these dark days of winter.”
Prizes and merchandise for the event are sourced from locally owned restaurants and shops in downtown Brantford, according to the release.
Doors to the Sanderson will open at 7 p.m., with the artist meet-and-greet at 7:15 p.m. The performers take the stage at 8 p.m.
Seating will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Winter’s a Drag is made possible by support from the Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union, Wilfrid Laurier University Alumni Association, Student Alumni Association, Dean of Students’ Office, Laurier Brantford Grants and Enterprise Brant.
The release notes that the campus experience co-ordinator’s mandate is to “create meaningful connections between the campus and community, and to enhance vibrancy in the campus district of downtown Brantford.”
