Indigenous Capacity Support Program

The Indigenous Capacity Support Program helps enhance meaningful engagement and leadership of Indigenous Peoples in consultations on assessments. This funding is provided outside the context of specific project reviews.

Who is eligible

Eligible recipients include Indigenous communities and Indigenous organizations.

What you need to know before you apply

The Indigenous Capacity Support Program has three streams:

Applications received will be considered depending on the availability of funding. Please consult the Program Guidelines for detailed information about the program. Specific eligible activities and criteria may be required for different funding opportunities within the program.

After you apply

The Agency will contact applicants about funding decisions. This usually happens within two months after the application deadline.

Contribution agreement

The Agency will contact successful applicants and provide them with a contribution agreement to sign.

Detailed financial report

Successful applicants with existing contribution agreements must complete a detailed financial report to be reimbursed. This includes providing supporting invoices and/or receipts for reimbursement of eligible expenses incurred over the course of the assessment or engagement initiative.

Instructions on how to submit a detailed financial report will be provided directly to successful applicants.

There are currently no funding opportunities open at this time.

Should Indigenous communities or organizations require funding outside of formal funding application periods, please contact the Indigenous Partnerships Division, subject to funding availability.
