SOULGUIDING

A TWO-YEAR EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING PROGRAM IN THE GROWTH OF SPIRIT, THE LOVE OF SOUL, AND THE ART OF SPIRITUAL DIRECTION.*

artwork by Lois Huey-Heck

Grounded in the Christian tradition and drawing on wisdom of other spiritual traditions, SOULGUIDING uses a mentorship model to guide participants through two years of retreat gatherings and at-home learning requirements. We attend to currents of aliveness and the force of love in the world, by cultivating:

  • faithfulness to one’s inner soul life

  • alignment of thinking, feeling and moving centres

  • understanding of one’s self and others

  • openness to the world of Spirit

With this at our core, we focus on listening, discernment, contemplation and imagination. We seek to broaden our understanding of soulful living as the basis for true and right action. We mentor and support participants to create contemplative communities and Spirit-filled leadership wherever their journeys take them. In a busy world, SoulGuiding offers spaciousness and a rich network of kindred souls.

*Spiritual direction goes by many names: spiritual accompaniment, soul friending, and spiritual guidance to name a few.

Wow! What an amazing, soul-nurturing, Divinely inspired week. I feel solid in choosing this program. It’s very clear that you are experienced mentors in a well-established, well thought out, and planned program. The wisdom and depth of experience is palpable. Thank you for putting so much love and care into our process.

  • practices of silence

  • suggested reading and resources

  • three responsive projects on the themes of each phase

  • monthly journal reflections on aspects of the SoulGuiding journey

  • ongoing spiritual direction with a director outside the program

  • small group processes via video conferencing

SoulGuiding is open to everyone. There are no educational prerequisites to participate in this program. We only ask that you seek out your own spiritual director and participate in at least 10 sessions of personal spiritual direction before the program begins. Your spiritual director is your own choice. If you are looking for a spiritual director, see this list or email us for assistance. What a remarkable team you all made. I’m leaving here with so many insights, gifts, and a deeper desire to know the unknowable. Thank you for all the hours of creativity, listening, and discernment that went into this life-changing week!

I am struck again and again by how much thought goes into each retreat. We move seamlessly from day to day, session to session. But I know that the apparent seamlessness is because there has been much planning - not only for the activities to support our growth but for the tone to help us feel held and to grow the community. It is a rare and beautiful set of skills that you offer us. Thank you.

SOULMENTORING

A TWO-YEAR PROGRAM IN CONTEMPLATIVE LEADERSHIP

SoulMentoring is open, by invitation, to spiritual directors who have completed the SoulGuiding program. The invitation is to be a companion for the two-year SoulGuiding journey and it is offered to those who show a charism for contemplative group leadership. The experience of being a companion offers growth, development, and deepening within a context of contemplative leadership and accompaniment.

Of all the spiritual direction programs I’m familiar with, Pacific Jubilee is by far my favourite. It has heart! A close-knit, caring faculty and a meticulous insistence upon the spiritual art of presence yield rich results; not just competent spiritual directors, but conscious human beings.
