Blues Project Leaving CFRC after 43 Years

Wayne

On March 9th 2024, CFRC bids goodbye to our dear friend Wayne Vermette, host of Blues Project.  Broadcasting on CFRC's airwaves for 43 years, Vermette has decided to retire.  His long time friend Jim Birtch, host of Canadian Shield will host a special hour of Blues Project programming from 5-6 PM to send Wayne off in style.

From Wayne:

"The beginning was a thrilling start to my broadcasting time with CFRC. The ending is filled with fond memories of good times with good people and great music.  The middle time of 43 years with the station gave me the opportunity to be surrounded by keen listeners and youthful intelligence with their own musical interests. Sad ending?  Not really. More of a 'happy to have had the opportunity to connect with you' ending.  Goodbye with love and thank you for riding along with me."

As one of Kingston's longest-serving broadcasters, Wayne leaves the station with decades of programming that entertained audiences with new and vintage blues music.  A friend to all near and far, Wayne and his beloved program Blues Project will be sorely missed.

Thank you Wayne for the good times and great music!  We'll miss you!

CFRC Opens New Facebook & Instagram

socials

Following META's response to Bill C-18 in Canada, CFRC like other stations lost access to Facebook and Instagram in Summer 2023 because our station also shared news content on our platforms.

CFRC has opened new music-oriented Facebook and Instagram pages @cfrcmusic.

Each page will feature highlights about CFRC's musical programs and support local venues, promoters, and musicians in promotion of their upcoming concert performances.

CFRC will continue to also use its @cfrc and @cfrcradio handles as content we post there remains visible to followers outside of Canada.

Please follow our new social media and reach out via our Contact Page if you wish to submit music or request assistance to spread the word about an upcoming concert in Kingston area!
