Lauren Tucker

The Kingston Curator Returns!!

Announcing the triumphant return of The Kingston Curator, Thursdays at 2 PM all Summer long!

CFRC Arts Coordinator Lauren Tucker brings you weekly news and interviews with the who's who of Kingston's summer arts and culture. They'll be joined by local and visiting artists across all mediums. Tune in for candid conversations about the creative process and the community alongside some live performances along the way. Bringing you more than just the headlines, The Curator is your one-stop summer shop for local arts news and perspectives.

What's to come: Lauren's bringing you the latest on everything arts and culture in Kingston and the surrounding area. Think music, visual art, theatre & performance, writing, spoken word, dance - anything and everything creative! Whether it's upcoming shows, festivals, exhibitions, releases, or neat creative stories you won't find anywhere else, The Curator is on the case.

Lauren Tucker (they/them) is stoked to be returning to CFRC as the Community News and Arts Coordinator! Catch them on the news airwaves this summer bringing you arts news on the Kingston Curator and Today in YGK, and behind the mic otherwise on Listening Queerly, Monday's Indie Wake-Up Call, or on their latest voice acting or podcasting project. Outside of the booth, you can probably find them at all of the local creative events they cover on the station, or juggling too many games of Dungeons and Dragons.

Want to be featured in The Curator or our concerts and events calendar this summer? Reach out to Lauren via arts@cfrc.ca!

CFRC Wins Prestigious National Award in News Programming

CRABO 2024

CFRC 101.9 FM's weekly news program, The Corridor, has won the 2024 CRABO Award for Best in News Programming.  The Corridor, funded by the Local Journalism Initiative features local and regional news content developed by journalists at CFRC as well as our partners at CJAI FM, County FM, The Kingstonist, YGK News, the Morrisburg Leader and the Brockville Recorder and Times.  CFRC staff, volunteers and interns read LJI stories, mix pre-recorded content from CFRC and other stations, and also read traffic and weather reports to deliver a well produced and professionally-executed local and regional news program covering issues that matter.

CFRC Opens New Facebook & Instagram

socials

Following META's response to Bill C-18 in Canada, CFRC like other stations lost access to Facebook and Instagram in Summer 2023 because our station also shared news content on our platforms.

CFRC has opened new music-oriented Facebook and Instagram pages @cfrcmusic.

Each page will feature highlights about CFRC's musical programs and support local venues, promoters, and musicians in promotion of their upcoming concert performances.

CFRC will continue to also use its @cfrc and @cfrcradio handles as content we post there remains visible to followers outside of Canada.

Please follow our new social media and reach out via our Contact Page if you wish to submit music or request assistance to spread the word about an upcoming concert in Kingston area!
