Accessibilities

COL’s website is equipped with new assistive technology to enable high accessibilities for the following profiles:

  • Seizure Safe Profile
  • Vision Impaired Profile
  • Blind Users Profile (Screen-Reader)
  • Cognitive Disability Profile
  • ADHD Friendly Profile
  • Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor)

How does it work?

Click the Accessibility button to open the interface

And choose one of the following profiles:

Seizure Safe Profile

This profile enables people with epilepsy to use the website safely by eliminating the risk of seizures that result from flashing or blinking animations and risky colour combinations.

Vision Impaired Profile

This profile adjusts the website so that it is accessible to individuals with the majority of visual impairments, such as Degrading Eyesight, Tunnel Vision, Cataract, Glaucoma, and others.

Cognitive Disability Profile

This profile provides various assistive features to help users with cognitive disabilities, such as Autism, Dyslexia, CVA, and others, focus on the essential elements of the website more easily.

ADHD Friendly Profile

This profile significantly reduces distractions and noise, to help people with ADHD and Neurodevelopmental disorders browse, read, and focus on the essential elements of the website more easily.

Blind Users Profile (Screen-Readers)

This profile adjusts the website to be compatible with screen-readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.

Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor)

This profile enables motor-impaired persons to operate the website using the keyboard Tab, Shift+Tab, and the Enter keys. Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Other Adjustments

Listed below are other adjustments that can be made according to the desired mode.

Reading Mode

For cognitive disorders, puts a webpage in text only, reading-focused mode.

Quick Navigation

For the motor impaired, lets users reach any important page with a single click.

Stop Animations

For epileptics, instantly freeze all animations, gifs, and flashing images.

Contrast Setting

For the vision impaired, enhances the content’s foreground and background-colour contrast.

Content Adjustments

Section adjustments: Font Adjustments, Readable Font, Emphasize Titles, Emphasize Links, Text Magnifier, Content Scaling, Text Align Left/Right/Center, Adjust Letter Spacing, Adjust Line Height.

Display Adjustments

Section adjustments: High Contrast, High Saturation, Low Saturation, Dark Contrast, Light Contrast, Monochrome, Text Colorization, Title Colorization, Background Colorization.

Orientation Adjustment

Section adjustments: Hide Images, Mute Sounds, Useful Links, ReadMode, Reading Guide, Reading Mask, Highlight Focus, Highlight Hover, Big White Cursor, Big Black Cursor.
