Overview

Contribute to accelerating Quebec's socio-ecological transition by registering for this 135-hour training course, which runs from May 6 to June 3.

With participants from diverse backgrounds, you will examine real-life problems to find sustainable and innovative solutions aimed at transforming society. Throughout this transdisciplinary co-creation experience, you will be accompanied and mentored by academic and field experts from the academic, municipal, community and business sectors. 

The Summer School is an intensive, experiential, inter-university, accredited graduate training course for graduate students as well as public and government employees. The course aims to develop five key competencies in sustainability in order to operationalize the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In this course, students will understand complex sustainability problems and provide an integrated analysis of their environmental, social and economic aspects by:

  • measuring SDG targets
  • analyzing indicators
  • benchmarking and building data models

While offering the opportunity to localize the issues through real-life case studies, this course will focus on acquiring an understanding and application of multi-stakeholder collaboration and strategic planning for sustainable transitions as well as developing data and system models to solve real-world problems.

Eligibility criteria

  • Students must be at the graduate level;
  • Have a good understanding of sustainable development (field of study, research or employment) and the sustainable development goals;
  • Experience in collaborative work and/or a strong desire to develop reflective and collaborative practices;
  • Be able to work and communicate in one of Canada's two official languages (English and French);
  • Be available to participate in activities, according to the Quebec time zone (EST);
  • Have access to a computer (or tablet) and a stable high-speed internet connection.

Eligible student participants: amount equivalent to the tuition fees of their institution.
