MASTERING MONEY: THE EDUCATOR’S EDITION BY CPA CANADA

COVID-19 has left several Canadians on rocky financial ground, unsure of what the future will hold. This podcast series focuses on key issues and trends as they relate to financial education.

Listen to CPA Garth Sheriff for practical strategies on saving during these unprecedented times; plan for life after the pandemic with advice from David Trahair, CPA and author of The Procrastinator’s Guide to Retirement: How you can retire in 10 years or less and learn more about the government benefits available with CPA Fabio Bonanno, principal, taxation at CPA Canada.

JOURNAL OF ACCOUNTANCY 

The Journal developed two podcasts based on insights from Human Signals, a joint EY Seren and AICPA report on the effects of COVID19 on the accounting profession.

The first, 7 human behavior insights you need to know, addresses concepts such as a sense of belonging and community. It features a discussion between Joel Bailey, director at EY Seren, and CPA Barry Melancon, AICPA president and CEO.

The second podcast, 6 new business realities in the pandemic era, touches on issues related to empathetic leadership and organizational culture and is led by Gretchen Pisano, executive coach and consultant, CEO and cofounder of pLink Leadership.

PRACTICE MANAGEMENT CONSIDERATIONS IN TIMES OF CRISIS BY CPA CANADA

In this four-part podcast series, experts discuss various issues that firms and businesses need to navigate to better adapt to a new environment.

Learn more about how to maintain employee morale within a remote work environment with guest speaker CPA Chad Davis; which labour law considerations firms should take into account with insights from lawyer Shafik Bhalloo; what practitioners and clients can do to protect themselves against losses due to COVID19, with CPA Jay Ahluwalia; and, listen to CPA Bob Sanghera’s take on how COVID-19 has impacted both short and long-term operational strategies.

For each podcast episode, CPAs can earn 1.5 CPD hours. A Certification of Completion can be added for a fee after listening to all four episodes and taking a multiple-choice quiz based on the content.

PLANNING AND FORECASTING CONSIDERATIONS IN TIMES OF CRISIS BY CPA CANADA

In this podcast series, hosted by CPA Rob Torok, episodes focus on the importance of long and short-term planning and forecasting; how to deal with new challenges that lie ahead; best practices in forecasting and cash preservation; as well as tips for navigating the remote close process. 

Like the practice management podcasts, CPAs can earn 1.5 CPD hours and add on a Certification of Completion for a fee.

THE BUSINESS UNPLANNED PODCAST SERIES BY BMO

What happens when circumstances beyond your control make your perfect business plan impossible? Do you adapt your strategy? Revisit your goals? Sure, but where do you start? In this podcast series, BMO has experts and entrepreneurs discuss about how to deal with the crisis. Topics covered include staying motivated, managing cash flow post-COVID-19 and business recovery.

In recent months, these in-depth conversations have covered a wide variety of pandemic-inspired discussions, from successfully leading a remote team to building an invincible company and becoming a better manager.

THE BREGMAN LEADERSHIP PODCAST

Peter Bregman has been talking to executives and business leaders for years about leadership and professional effectiveness. THE ADVENT OF HOMO COVIDUS? BY FRANCE CULTURE

The masked individual, the anxious worker, the cautious saver and the frugal consumer—the types of individuals born of the current pandemic will be very different from their predecessors, the homo economicus. The episodes of this podcast series (in French only) sketch a preliminary assessment of the multiple impacts of COVID 19. The three episodes are aptly named: “Travailleur masqué, travailleur désabusé”; “Un épargnant sur la défensive” and “Altruiste ou égoïste, un individu en crise.

STRESS TEST BY THE GLOBE AND MAIL 

From job losses to stock market declines, the pandemic has taken its toll on Canadian household finances, especially for people in the age 20 to 40 group.

Geared to members of Generations Y and Z, Stress Test covers a wide variety of topics to help them better manage their finances in these uncertain times, while showing that their dreams are not beyond reach. Should they move back in with their parents? What about the cost of kids? Can they afford to live the downtown lifestyle? Why did they get into debt and how do they get out? Answers to all these questions are offered in each episode. The podcasts are in English, with transcripts in French also available.
