School Year Programs

EAF provides Saturday programming for children and youth (ages 4-21) who are still in school, with an intellectual and/or physical disability, to participate in games and other social recreational activities. Programming is also offered during PA Days and school breaks (such as Holiday, Exam and March breaks). EAF requires that participants complete an in-take process to assess their needs and register for EAF programs. There is a fee for participation, but some subsidies are available. Minecraft Mates Program

Minecraft Mates is for children and youth ages 9 to 17 with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or an intellectual disability. The group focuses on building social skills through structured conversation and cooperative play amongst its members. EAF requires that participants complete an in-take process to assess their needs and register for EAF programs. Contact Extend-A-Family Kingston for more information. 

Integrated Summer Day Camp

Category: Recreation
Ages: 13 and up
Provides a safe environment where children with and without disabilities have fun together. Weekly sessions are themed and include various activities. Available for youth ages 4-12, and 13-17. EAF requires that participants complete an in-take process to assess their needs and register for EAF programs. There is a fee for participation, but some subsidies are available. Adult Summer Camp

Category: Recreation
Ages: 13 and up
Adult Summer Camp is available to adults over 18 years of age at the Extend-A-Family Kingston building on Bagot Street. This program runs in conjunction with our Adult Day Program. Summer Camp takes place Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 3:30pm, with extended hours available.

Participants enjoy a summer filled with social, educational, physical, and recreational activities. These activities vary based on the theme of the week; some of the activities include art, swimming, community outings, gardening, cooking, community guests, and a talent show.

Movie Mates


Category: Recreation
Ages: Adults, Seniors
Over the course of eight weeks, participants will experience writing, acting, producing and editing a movie along with a group
 of their peers. During the final week, guests will be invited to a screening party to enjoy the final product. This program is open to individuals between the ages of 16-21 with ASD.

Adult Day Program

Category: Disability and/or Mental Health Support Services
Ages: Adults, Seniors
The Adult Day Program serves adults with developmental disabilities Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 3:30pm year-round. Participants choose which day(s) they wish to attend program through the week. 

The overall objective of this program is to develop life skills, promote independence, and help adults to integrate into their community. The program provides opportunities for all participants to enhance their social skills, educational goals, healthy lifestyles and provide recreational activities. These recreational activities may include: dance, swimming, music, art, use of technology, volunteering in the community and community outings.

Individuals can begin to transition to this program at the age of 18 by attending one day a week during their final years of high school, high school exam break, and/or Adult Summer Camp.

Family Support

Ages: All Ages
Case coordinators provide support to families with children with disabilities including education, transitional and long term planning, and community referrals. Coordinators also assist families in completing Ministry funding applications for respite and other expenses. Contact Maria Cordeiro at Extend-a-Family Kingston for more information.
