About this event
Are you interested in furthering your skills in engineering education research? The IEER will help build your confidence in engineering education research – and your network This two-day webinar series gives participants a high level overview of the knowledge required to design and facilitate research studies in engineering education.
Session 1 (June 18) will offer a history of the field of engineering education research, an overview of the steps in designing engineering education research studies, and a guide to defining research questions. You’ll delve into the role of knowledge traditions in the research process, and consider how to create a research project that’s well aligned between research questions, philosophy, frameworks, methodology & methods.
Session 2 (June 25) will offer a high-level overview of methodologies used in Engineering Education Research. The webinar will introduce terminologies and mindsets, building participants’ researcher toolbox. We will provide a high level overview of methodology, and introduce a few research approaches (qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods, design-based research).
Session facilitators: Marnie Jamieson, University of Alberta; Susan McCahan, University of Toronto; Lisa Romkey, University of Toronto; Jillian Seniuk Cicek, University of Manitoba
