There is a new business in town, focused on serving the railroad industry. Cariboo Rail, a subsidiary of the JDS Energy & Mining Inc. is laying the tracks to a better future through the responsible construction of a brand new railway equipment maintenance shop located in the BCR Industrial area of Prince George.

“Our team believes in the untapped potential of Northern BC and the role that both the City of Prince George and the Prince Rupert Port Authority will play in the future growth of the rail industry,” said Clint Stibbard, VP of Corporate Development, JDS Groups of Companies.
Cariboo Rail is looking to build a lasting presence in the city by situating their railway equipment maintenance operations at 6565 Industrial Way, bringing good paying industrial jobs to Prince George and investing in their ability to service their customers in Northern BC. The JDS Group of Companies is a BC-based provider of mining engineering, construction management, mining contracting and railway maintenance & construction services and is committed to achieving maximum value for customers and communities.
“On a dollar basis, approximately 75% of the construction work on the new shop was performed by PG-based businesses, which is something that we are proud of,” says Stibbard. “For future developments on the site, we are looking to source an even larger portion of the work from PG-based businesses as we now have a better understanding of the local workforce and are committed to responsibly growing our partnerships.”
