Canada providing charter flights to facilitate the arrival of Ukrainian refugees.

Government of Canada launches online portal to support Ukrainians. The government has provided humanitarian and military aid to Ukraine and is looking to do more, notably by encouraging Canadians to welcome displaced Ukrainians as they arrive in Canada.

  • The new Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) Portal launched to support Ukraine can be found here.

They are currently looking for large-scale donations, including:

  • Financial aid
  • Temporary housing
  • Transportation
  • Cellphones and tablets
  • Gift cards for the purchases of goods
  • Jobs
  • Medical supplies

*Donations from Canadian businesses will go to Ukrainians and other displaced persons making Canada their home.*

Canada expands overseas services for Ukrainians. The Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, announced the launch of the new Canada Information Centre (CI Centre) in Warsaw, Poland.

Province Helping Ukrainians Find Jobs in Ontario - Access to jobs, health care, income support and free education will help Ukrainian arrivals settle safely and quickly. We are glad to see OHIP is covered, we still need childcare, housing, basic allowance through OW and legal if families want to claim refugee status.

Government of Canada announces Workforce Solutions Road Map – further changes to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program to address labour shortages across Canada. The federal temporary foreign worker program makes it easier to address labour shortages in certain sectors which will also help the Ukrainians who decide to only stay for a short time (up to three years) in Canada.

Canada expands settlement support for Ukrainians coming to Canada. A federal dedicated job bank as well as SIN support. Another step in the right direction. We just need provincial commitment to adequate social services and housing still as other provinces have committed to this in the western provinces.

Canada launches new temporary residence pathway to welcome those fleeing the war in Ukraine.

  • In response to Vladimir Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, today announced the launch of the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET). The CUAET is a special, accelerated temporary residence pathway for Ukrainians seeking safe haven in Canada while the war in their home country continues.

Canada to welcome those fleeing war in Ukraine

  • As part of the Government of Canada’s response to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is introducing new immigration streams for Ukrainians who want to come to Canada temporarily or permanently.

March 3, 2022

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announces additional immigration support for those affected by the situation in Ukraine.

  • As part of the Government of Canada’s response, IRCC has taken the decision to prioritize applications for new and replacement travel documents for Canadian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate family members.
  • Establishing a dedicated service channel for Ukraine enquiries that will be available for clients both in Canada and abroad at 613-321-4243, with collect calls accepted. In addition, clients can now add the keyword “Ukraine2022” to the IRCC Web form with their enquiry and their email will be prioritized.
  • Implementing urgent processing of travel documents, including issuing single-journey travel documents for immediate family members of Canadian citizens and permanent residents who do not have valid passports.
  • Ensuring that Ukrainians currently in Canada are able to extend their stay or stay longer in Canada by prioritizing the renewal of work and study permits, and extending a policy that allows individuals to apply for a work permit from within Canada.
