The Fredericton Community Foundation has many funds that offer scholarships every year for high school, college and university students.

Ben & Faye Medjuck Scholarship

Annual scholarships to students at Fredericton High School and at Leo Hayes High School. Awarded by School Scholarship Committee.

Bill McCauley Music Scholarship

Annual scholarship to student at Leo Hayes High School. Awarded by School Scholarship Committee

Brendon Oreto Foundation Bursary

Four $1,000 non-renewable bursaries will be awarded to a student athlete, male or female, from Leo Hayes High School, Fredericton High School, Stanley Consolidated School, and the Central New Brunswick Academy to go towards their post-secondary education. Students can apply using the application found here. Recipients will be chosen by Athletic Staff at each individual high school.

Brian Glenn Memorial Bursary

Annual scholarship awarded to a student from Minto Memorial High School. Awarded by School Scholarship Committee.

Fredericton Community Foundation School Prize

Annual $500 prize to students at Fredericton High School, Leo Hayes High School and Ecole Sainte-Anne. Awarded by School Scholarship Committee.

Gerald Sutherland entrepreneur award

Annual $500 prize to student at Fredericton High School and student at Leo Hayes High School, recipients must have high standing in Business Organization and Management 120. Awarded by School Scholarship Committee.

Gertrude Duffie Awards in Art (Duffie Crowell Scholarships)

Annual scholarships to students at Fredericton High School and at Leo Hayes High School. Awarded by School Scholarship Committee.

James Andow Scholarship

Annual prize of $500 to student at Woodstock High School. Awarded by School Scholarship Committee.

Mike Fitzgerald Memorial Scholarships and Bursaries

Annually, the following scholarships and bursaries are given from the Mike Fitzgerald Memorial Fund as selected by the schools:

  • One scholarship of $1,000 for a Leo Hayes High School student

  • One scholarship of $1,000 for a Fredericton High School student

  • Two $500 bursary for a graduating Leo Hayes High School varsity basketball player

  • Two $500 bursary for a graduating Fredericton High School varsity basketball player, as selected by the school

These scholarships and bursaries are selected by a number of community members and awarded by the Fredericton Community Foundation.


Andrew “Andy” Williams Memorial Scholarship

Andy was known for his community donations, coaching teams to championships, being a helping hand and could make anyone smile with easy conversation. He believed in always chipping in to help people out and inspired others around him to help serve their community.

Andy stood for: integrity, honesty, and loyalty. He was only 58 years old when he died after a long battle with cancer. He lived loud and made a difference while he was here - and made a lasting impact on many people he coached, worked with, and his friends. Not long after his passing in 2021, a committee of these people started a Memorial Golf Tournament that now funds two high school scholarships in memory of Andy.

Two one-time $1,000 scholarships will be annually awarded to the top two applicants graduating from Fredericton High School or Leo Hayes High School. For more information and eligibility, click here.

Frank Fraser Joslin and Blanche I. (Hood) Joslin Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a York County resident between the ages of 17 and 30 who is a graduate of a York County high school and who is entering their first year of studies at an agricultural or veterinary college/university.

Fredericton Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

Created by the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce to recognize three deserving student who has made a significant contribution to the betterment of their school and/or community and at the same time has demonstrated sound academic achievement. This $1,500 scholarship is restricted to employees of members in good standing of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce; or the child, spouse or partner of a member; or the child, spouse or partner of the member’s employee.

The application is available here. Final submissions for applications is the last Friday of May at 4pm. Applications are to be submitted to the Fredericton Community Foundation.

Isabel Adams Coburn Memorial Scholarship

These scholarships were created in memory of Isabel Adams Coburn. She was a well known, highly respected educator who resided at Keswick Ridge, and who touched the lives of many students in both the public schools and the New Brunswick Teachers’ College. She was also active in the community, the church and her alma mater, the University of New Brunswick, serving for a time as a member of its Board of Governors.

Each year the Isabel Adams Coburn Scholarship Trust will award two or more non-renewable scholarships with a value up to $2,000 each to students residing in the Keswick Ridge / Mactaquac area of New Brunswick. Applicants will need to be entering or attending the University of New Brunswick as candidates for an undergraduate or graduate degree. A balance of academic achievement, participation in extra-curricular activities and financial need will be taken into account in selecting recipients of these scholarships.

The application deadline is June 15th, and applications are to be submitted in writing to the Isabel Adams Coburn Scholarship Trust. Click here for information on how to apply and what to include.

Marianne Limpert Scholarship

This $500 scholarship is for a Fredericton High School, Leo Hayes High School, Oromocto High School or Ecole Sainte-Anne graduate pursuing post-secondary studies and continuing to swim competitively.

Applications can be found here and are available at the high schools or from Fredericton Aquanaut Swim Team members. The Scholarship is payable following the commencement of the 2nd semester in January and upon receipt of the successful candidate’s grades from the university.

Muriel Connors Award

This minimum $3,000 award is given to a New Brunswick High School graduate (Note: This does not exclude university students from applying, provided they graduated from a high school in New Brunswick) who will be or is attending an accredited community college or university program in Canada. Applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30.

MARY FRANCES CRONIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Mary Frances Cronin passed away suddenly at the age of 23 on April 29, 2022, of a pulmonary embolism. Mary loved life and reveled in her friends and family. She would want to be remembered as fabulous, which she always was.

One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded yearly in her memory to a student who played either Junior Varsity or Varsity High School Soccer on the girls team in their graduating year attending Fredericton High School (FHS). Students must be in grade 12 and be accepted to a publicly funded post-secondary institution. For more information and eligibility, click here.

Murray & Shirley Bailey Award

This $1,000 award is given to a graduating student from Fredericton High School, Leo Hayes High School, or Nackawic High School, who attended Keswick Valley Memorial School for a minimum of 3 years. Each school listed above is asked to forward a maximum of 3 applications from deserving students. Each application must be submitted on the application form found here.

Student applications are to be forwarded to the school guidance counselor or other designated person. The applications must be forwarded electronically by email to the Fredericton Community Foundation at info@fredfdn.ca by May 15th of the current year who will then forward them to the committee.

Provincial Artisans Bursary

Provincial Artisans’ bursaries and scholarships are awarded annually to successful recipients with disabilities meeting the necessary criteria. These being:

  • Entering or already attending a university, college or other educational institute

  • Extent of disability

  • Academic performance

  • Academic dedication

  • Financial need

  • Community involvement

  • Resident of New Brunswick

  • The application is available for download here. Final submission for applications is May 31st. Notification to successful candidates is by June 30th of the current year with cheques being sent upon receipt of confirmation from the educational institution that tuition has been paid.

Robert Morimanno Memorial Scholarship Fund 

Robert was only 51 when he died from brain cancer in 2019. He loved life and was passionate about giving back to his community, whether volunteering on boards, teaching fitness classes, coaching youth soccer, or teaching cross-country skiing.  

He built numerous life-long friendships, always putting others at ease and leaving them with a kind word and a smile. "Try to leave them smiling" was his modus operandi (M.O.). Family, friends, and organizations established the Robert Morimanno Memorial Scholarship Fund to inspire others to give back to their community and pursue their dreams. 

Two $1,000 scholarships are awarded annually to high school varsity soccer players in their graduating year attending one of the four local area high schools: École Sainte-Anne (ESA), Fredericton High School (FHS), Leo Hayes High School (LHHS) and Oromocto High School (OHS).

Thomas Washburn Memorial Scholarship

Thomas Washburn graduated from Fredericton High School and studied engineering at the University of Waterloo in Ontario. He was killed while working in Saudi Arabia in May 2004. To create a lasting memorial to Thom, friends, family, and organizations have donated to the Thomas Washburn Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Applicants must have graduated from a Fredericton area school and are planning to study engineering at a Canadian university. After each term is completed, the student will send the transcript of his or her marks to the Scholarship Committee.

Timmy Munn Memorial Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded annually in memory of Timmy Munn, who died in 1995. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of athletic ability, academic performance, and financial need. Recipients will have graduated from a local high school and attend a local college or university.

These scholarships and bursaries are funded through the Fredericton Community Foundation and are awarded at the discretion of the institution.


Alden R. Clark Scholarship (IODE)

Open to full time Fredericton campus students who have completed at least the normal requirements for the second year of the degree program in which they are registered at the University and are graduates of a New Brunswick high school. Applications are available through UNB.

Selections are made on the basis of scholastic attainment and financial need.

Fredericton Community Foundation (STU) Bursary

One $4,000 bursary awarded annually, based on financial need, to a student in second, third, or fourth year who is a graduate of Harvey High School, Stanley High School, Oromocto High School, Fredericton High School, Leo Hayes High School, or Ecole Ste-Anne. Students are to complete and submit a Bursary Application form to the Registrar’s Office by October 31. Applications are available through STU.

Selection by STU Awards Committee.

Fredericton Community Foundation (UNB) Bursary

Awarded to a Fredericton campus student who is a graduate of Harvey High School, Stanley High School, Oromocto High School, Leo Hayes High School, Fredericton High School or Ecole Ste Anne and is beginning a degree program at UNB. Selections are made primarily on the basis of scholastic attainment and financial need. Consideration will be given to the student’s contribution in extra-curricular activities. Applications are available through UNB.

Fredericton Community Foundation (NBCC) Bursary

An annual $2,000 bursary that will be awarded to a student enrolled in a program at the New Brunswick Community College. Their home address must be York or Carleton County and they must be enrolled in a two-year or more, program that will lead to a career. Applications are available through NBCC.

Selection by NBCC Award Committee.

Fredericton Community Foundation (NBCCD) Bursary

An annual $2,000 bursary that will be awarded to a student enrolled in a program at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design. Their home address must be York or Carleton County and they must be enrolled in a two-year or more, program that will lead to a career. Applications are available through NBCC.

John A. Page Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in a program at the New Brunswick Community College. Their home address must be York or Carleton County and they must be enrolled in a two-year or more, program that will lead to a career. Applications are available through NBCC.

M.A. Crowell Nursing Scholarship

This is an annual scholarship awarded to a female student who is a graduate of Leo Hayes High School, Fredericton High School or Ecole Ste Anne, has just completed the requirements of the first year of the Bachelor of Nursing degree program on the Fredericton campus and is beginning the second year of the program. Applications are available through UNB.

Selection will be based on scholastic attainment and financial need.

Rosemary’s Bursary for Nursing Students

Two $3,000 bursaries are provided to support nursing students at UNB Fredericton in any year of study. Students must be full-time undergraduate students who are experiencing financial difficulty in pursuit of his/her nursing degree. Recipients must have successfully completed at least one term of full-time study at UNB with a GPA of 2.0 and higher. Applications are available through UNB.

Rosemary’s Bursary (NBCC)

Two $3,000 bursaries are provided to students at NBCC who are in need of financial assistance. Applications are available through NBCC.
