EVENT OVERVIEW

Whether you are beginning to explore management consulting as a career path or currently in the process of recruiting for a firm, case competitions are a fantastic opportunity to develop your collaborative problem-solving skills.

In our 11-day case competition, Going the Extra Mile, participants will have the opportunity to (1) learn how to approach a case (2) tackle real-life business challenges and (3) present their recommended strategies to judges from our partnering firms. This unique opportunity will help participants assess their aptitude and enthusiasm for a career in management consulting while also learning from consultant judges!

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Going the Extra Mile

The case will be released on April 1st, 2024 (12:01 AM ET) and teams must submit their slide deck by April 10th, 2024 (11:59 PM ET). Going the Extra Mile will take place on April 11th (6:30 PM – 9:30 PM ET). The competition will consist of two rounds: a preliminary and final round. Each team will give a 10-minute presentation of their recommended solution to a panel of judges from our partnering consulting firms. Presentations will be followed by an 8-minute Q&A period. Enter our case competition for a chance to win cash prizes ($1000 in total)!   

The deadline to submit your team application is Friday, March 22nd, 2024 (5:00 PM ET). You will be notified of your application status on Thursday, March 28th, 2024 (5:00 PM ET).  

Note: If you are currently taking the 2024 GMCA: Business Fundamentals program, please refrain from registering through the public application form and use the course-specific registration link emailed to you. 

Eligibility

  • Graduate students and post-doctoral fellows that attend a Canadian university    
  • Teams must be composed of FOUR (4) members  
  • Maximum of ONE (1) current undergraduate, MBA student, or graduate alumnus, and a maximum of TWO (2) teammates with 2+ years of industry experience per team is allowed.  
  • Eligible teams are required to apply together.  

If you do not have a complete team, you can join our  GMCA Members Slack and post in the case competitions channel that you’re looking for team members.

Case Competition Fundamentals – Learn how to approach a business case!

If you are new to case competitions or would like to refresh your approach to casing, we will be hosting Case Competition Fundamentals. This event is highly recommended, and exclusive to all participating teams. Join us on April 3rd, 2024, at 6:00 PM ET for our information webinar: Case Competition Fundamentals!  

This informational webinar will include:  

  1. Case competition prep for Trainees 
  2. An overview of Going the Extra Mile case competition logistics 
  3. An open Q&A period

Coach’s Corner – Get feedback on your team’s slide deck

We will be hosting Coach’s Corner on Monday, April 8th, 2024 (30-minute time slots between 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM ET). We encourage all teams to register by April 5th, 2023, at 6:30 PM ET to receive feedback on their presentation outline and ask any outstanding questions.  Accepted teams will receive a link to sign-up on a first-come first-serve basis.
