Last night, I had the honour of facilitating the inaugural event for the Geography and City Studies Student Association (GCSA) alongside Da Chen 陳達, RPP, MCIP. As the event unfolded, it became abundantly clear that our collective efforts had resulted in an impressive turnout of over 40 enthusiastic students converging to welcome both esteemed alumni and faculty members. The atmosphere was charged with intellectual conversations, as participants engaged in the exchange of knowledge, shared experiences, and a profound exploration of one another's diverse cultures. It was great to see students, faculties and alumni's from the human geography department create bonds and friendships. I found it particularly rewarding to contribute significantly to the conception, coordination, and execution of the event, and was honoured to receive the positive feedback from attendees. I would like to thank Edison Gao, Gayathri Siva, Kyra Miller for playing such a large role in ensuring this event went smoothly. In addition, to the Geography and City Studies Alumni Network (GCSAN), who took time out of their busy lives to engage with our wonderful students in the department. I look forward to hosting similar events in the future, which can allow students to understand what the urban geography program entails and how to adapt the degree into a real world context.
