The Student Service Design Challenge is fortunate to count with the support of outstanding partners. Since its inception five years ago, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation has enriched the global design competition providing guidance, resources and insights to students on the principles and best practices of circular design. Their participation encourages the next generation of designers to re-think, re-design and build a positive future circular economy. The Foundation's primary focus is on accelerating the transition to a circular economy. The Foundation works with businesses, governments, and academia to build a framework for an economy that is restorative and regenerative by design. They conduct research, develop case studies, and collaborate with various stakeholders to drive systemic change towards more circular practices. Through advocacy and collaboration, the Foundation strives to create a more sustainable and resilient future for our planet. Along with the rest of the Challenge partners, they believe the spark to positive change can be lit by young designers who can offer a fresh perspective on long-lasting global issues. By supporting the Student Service Design Challenge, they stimulate education and innovation in the service design field. https://lnkd.in/dgbkWHK #servicedesign #designinnovation #circulardesign #designchallenge #studentchallenge #SSDC2024

The 5th edition of the global Student Service Design Challenge has kicked off with a bang with over 150 proposals, submitted by over 700 students. The most promising ones continue in the competition. The selected proposals are spread out among this year's 4 challenges, offered by: ISDIN, IKEA, Laerdal and Philips. As in previous editions, the students are a good representation of the extent and interest in service design as a force for good. They represent schools and universities from Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America in a challenge aiming to celebrate, encourage and inspire the next generation of designers. This year, the topic revolves around the 'turning the tide for good' topic. An encompassing theme that aims to consider the need to rethink, reimagine and reassess the impact of existing services and come up with new ones that contribute value and positively impact our individual and collective wellbeing. We are looking forward to their service concepts! #servicedesign #designcompetition #designforgood #wellbeing #sustainableliving

For several years, IKEA has been a steadfast partner of The Student Service Design Challenge. Their mission 'to create a better everyday life for the many people' fully aligns with the objective of the global competition to engage young creative talents in finding future-forward service solutions that positively impact society and the planet. IKEA has been evolving and changing over the last 80 years to solve consumer needs and dreams in their lives at home; always looking for new and better ways forward. The global home furnishing brand believes that whatever they are doing today, they can do better tomorrow. Finding solutions to almost impossible challenges is part of their core values and DNA. They recognise the important role in listening and learning from the next generation of designers to support them in solving the problems of tomorrow. For this edition, IKEA is asking design teams worldwide to support their journey toward fostering sustainable living by designing services that support more conscious habits and routines that promote health and wellbeing and are accessible and inclusive to all. Joining the Challenge Jury and representing the Swedish organisation in the competition is Karen Reeves. Karen is Services Leader at Inter IKEA, developing the services offer for the company. She is a specialist in physical and digital service solutions; transitioning consumers from product transactions to end-to-end, human-led experiences across their shopping or aftersales journeys. Karen is passionate about understanding how we can innovate in the service space to support and accelerate consumers living better lives at home. We are excited to support the students and can't wait to see the imaginative services they come up with. https://lnkd.in/dgbkWHK #servicedesign #designinnovation #LifeAtHome #SustainableDesign #designchallenge #studentchallenge #SSDC2024
