The County of Simcoe would like to extend its sincere appreciation and congratulations to Honda Canada Inc. on its history-making decision to expand its operations and continue investing in Simcoe County, at its Alliston facility. Honda has called Simcoe County home for 38 years. We’re proud to expand this partnership and further establish Simcoe County as one of Canada’s largest automotive sector regions. With this being the single largest investment by an international auto manufacturer in the history of Canada, the impact on our region will be felt for decades to come. This is great news for Canada, Ontario, Simcoe County and the Town of New Tecumseth. With this investment, Honda is not only supporting additional jobs and growth in our region, but also helping build up and support healthy, vibrant communities. 😄 We're excited to help spread the word about the launch of the Couchiching Conservancy's Youth Stewardship program that will engage local youth in conservation projects and inspire them to pursue #careers in conservation. The Angela Rehhorn Commemorative Project, will allow youth to be involved in making roads safer for wildlife and removing fences on the landscape, and will also introduce them to options available for a career in conservation. 🌎Each workshop is a free one day event 🌍Transportation to Nature Reserve from office at Grant’s Woods and Safety Equipment is included 🌏A great way for youth to connect with others who are like-minded and share similar environmental values 🌱Gain community volunteer hours and resume-building opportunities Angela Rehhorn was born and raised in Orillia, Ontario. She was on her way to a career in marine biology when she became a volunteer with The Couchiching Conservancy in the winter of 2019, as part of the Canadian Conservation Corps program. Angela was passionate about protecting nature and was eager to make a difference in the community that raised her. She was selected as a Canadian Youth Delegate for the 2019 United Nations Environmental Assembly (UNEA) in Nairobi, Kenya and was on her way there when she fell victim in the crash of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 on March 10, 2019 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
