The events for Dubai Arbitration Week are in full swing and Dentons' ๐๐๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ถ ๐๐ถ๐๐ฝ๐๐๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ผ๐น๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป team were pleased to host more than 120 clients and contacts yesterday at the Ritz Carlton, DIFC, for two panel discussions exploring "๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฃ๐๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐น๐ผ๐ด๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฟ๐ฏ๐ถ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป". ย Among the panellists were Dean Ryburn (Partner and co-head of Construction and Dispute Resolution, Dentons), Tess Pereira MBA MPH (Psychologist, Therapist and Coach, Tess Pereira Coaching), Fatima Balfaqeeh (FCIArb C.Arb, MRICS, FCIPS) (Managing Partner, Balfaqeeh Law), Tom Montagu-Smith KC (Barrister, 3 Verulam Buildings) and Tony Cole FCIArb (Arbitrator at JAMS, Reader in Arbitration and Investment Law, University of Leicester).ย The panels were moderated by Faris Shehabi and Zahra Rose Khawaja (Senior Associates, Dentons). ย The highly interactive session explored the role that psychology has to play alongside legal arguments in achieving the desired end result for parties engaged in arbitration. The panellists covered topics including effective communication with opposing counsel, how cultural nuances play a part in building a case, how advocates persuade tribunals (and change their mind when they disagree) and the role of bias in arbitral decision-making. ย Thank you to everyone who attended and participated during and after the event. Our team enjoyed the lively discussions! ย #Dentons #Dentonsmiddleeast #Arbitration #DAW2023 #Lawyers #Dubaiarbitrationweek
