🌟 Fantastic News from the Workplace and Immigrant Network of Waterloo Region! 🌟 We are thrilled to share the success of our recent Med Connect Event, a collaborative effort between the Workforce Planning Board (WINWR), Conestoga Colleges Community Career Centre, and their phenomenal staff, Markeil Barnaby, Erika Ellis Ellis We are so grateful for your support in this event. The primary focus of this event was to provide guidance and support to internationally educated healthcare professionals, helping them navigate pathways to re-enter their careers in healthcare. It was truly heartening to witness the dedication and passion of all involved in making this event a success. We extend our deepest gratitude to our esteemed employers who generously shared their insights and opportunities: Warm Embrace Elder Care, CarePartners, Right at Home, Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation, and Grand River Hospital. Your presence and engagement were invaluable in providing attendees with valuable guidance and connections. Additionally, we're grateful for the time and information provided by the CARE Centre for Internationally Educated Nurses and Internationally Trained Physicians of Ontario in our panel discussions. Your commitment to the support of global talent and our region is amazing. Your resources further enriched the event and provided attendees with essential information and support. A special mention goes to Uma Maharaj, Manager of Equity and Belonging at Grand River Hospital. Uma, an immigrant with lived experience, shared her challenges and experiences, enriching the event even further. Her insights resonated deeply with attendees, fostering an electric atmosphere of knowledge sharing, growth, and learning for all involved. Finally our amazing CDP students Nazreen Abdul Kareem Deepshikha Sharma. You're both amazing. The Med Connect Event was a true testament to the power of collaboration and community support. We look forward to continuing our efforts to support internationally educated healthcare professionals on their journey to re-entering the healthcare workforce. Here's to the promising opportunities and continued partnerships ahead! 🎉 #MedConnect #HealthcareProfessionals #CommunitySupport #PartnershipsForSuccess #WINwithWIN #waterlooregion #globaltalent #communitycareercentre

Hello LinkedIn Network! I am beginning to recruit Mentors for our Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 cohorts for the Helena Webb Mentorship Program. There are some exciting changes, including moving to a competency-based program. Mentors will need to be able to dedicate approximately 20 hours during the cohort they are participating in. I will be hosting some information sessions starting in May, but if you are interested in learning more about this program, please complete this form, and I would be happy to reach out: https://lnkd.in/dHhDfWAR You can also email me at Mentorship@conestogac.on.ca for more information. We hope to double the participation from our last cohort and have 66 pairs each for our upcoming semesters. My reach goal would be 100 pairs per semester – good to put this out in the universe! We hope to have you participate in this transformative program and share your wisdom with our students. PS: if you are a student, I will begin to recruit in May – stay tuned for eligibility criteria and how to apply! #HireConestoga #ConestogaCollege #MentorshipMatters #Mentorship #Kitchener #Cambridge #Waterloo #Guelph #Brantford #Milton

Two-time Olympian and Conestoga graduate Mandy Bujold’s new challenge is promoting the skilled trades, in particular to women who are still significantly underrepresented in the field. The Kitchener boxer and trailblazer in the male-dominated sport was recently hired as manager of industry and community partnerships for the Grand Valley Construction Association. As part of her new role, Bujold is looking to partner with the college since it is one of the largest providers of trades and apprenticeship training in the region and province. https://ow.ly/s7hq50QSlbj
