BIO

New classes in January! 4-year-olds can join my Sunshine 1 class in January, and 3-year-olds can sign up for Sunrise 2. Both classes are on Saturdays.

I have been teaching in Ottawa for over 15 years, through the ECCA program in the schools and then, when that program was cancelled in 2016, at Knox United church in Nepean and Lauzon Music on Wellington West. I also taught in Calgary for 7 years. I find I am much appreciated for my patience and the excellent rapport I build with students – even online!

At McGill University I studied Early Music, majoring in harpsichord and graduating with a BMus. I later returned to McGill and obtained an MA in Musicology. I went on to become a church musician, learning to play organ and direct musical groups including adult choirs, a youth band and tone chime group. I love helping people get involved in music making, whether it’s by joining a choir or by learning to play their very first songs on the piano. I’m very excited to be offering Level 1 and 2 Music for Young Children classes this year.

All classes are in-person at my studio at Knox United church in Nepean, across from the Ben Franklin sports dome at Greenbank and Hunt Club. There is plenty of green space and classes for the youngest children begin with 5-10 minutes of singing and teaching outdoors (unless the weather gets miserable!).

The church is a 10 minute walk from St. John XXIII and Knoxdale schools, and the #82 bus. There is plenty of parking and the building is wheelchair accessible.
