In Niagara College's School of Environment and Horticulture...

  • help meet Canada’s demand for horticulturalists;
  • become a commercial bee keeper to meet the need for pollination services in Canada and around the world;
  • help establish an ecologically healthy relationship with nature;
  • restore or manage disturbed ecosystems;
  • work in an environmental field or with Geographic Information Systems;
  • preserve environmental wetlands, water supplies and other natural habitats;
  • protect biodiversity in nature with a focus on sustainable growing; or
  • develop beautiful and sustainable landscapes for residential and commercial clients.

The Niagara College School of Environmental and Horticultural Studies, located at the 125-acre Niagara-on the-Lake (NOTL) campus, acts as a living lab for students. Located at the base of the Niagara Escarpment, the NOTL campus features Ontario’s largest training greenhouse, newly renovated landscape design studio and computer lab; a heated landscape workshop; 15 acres of student-restored wetlands; and is Canada’s first nationally recognized post-secondary wildlife sanctuary.

With students responsible for maintenance of the campus landscape, the School focuses strongly on applied, hands-on learning experiences on campus and via co-op placements and work terms in addition to applied research projects. Programs are taught by expert faculty and developed to meet industry demand.

Our Niagara College Teaching Greenhouse is an educational greenhouse serviced by students of Niagara College’s horticultural programs. It is open to the public year round, and features great seasonal specials.
