Overview

The Ontario Bridging Participant Assistance Program (OBPAP) is a one-time bursary of up to $5,000 available to internationally trained professionals with financial need, to cover tuition, books and equipment costs.

Eligibility

Internationally trained professionals who need financial support are eligible to apply for an OBPAP bursary if they are enrolled in Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) approved programs that are:

  • currently or formerly funded through the Ontario Bridge Training Program
  • not eligible for OSAP funding starting between April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021 

Bursary assistance is limited to program tuition, book and equipment costs reported by the postsecondary institution offering the bridge training program.

The OBPAP bursary applicant must be either a:

The OBPAP bursary applicant must not be:

  • in default of a student loan
  • restricted from OSAP eligibility
  • getting Second Career or OSAP funding

How to apply

  • Check and make sure your college or university offers an approved bridge training program.
  • Apply to the financial aid office at the approved college or university.

Priority is given to students with the greatest financial need, which is determined by your college or university’s student aid policies.

Talk to your school’s financial aid office to see if you qualify for other forms of financial assistance.

Application deadline

You must submit your OBPAP application on or before March 31 every year while you are enrolled in the bridge training program.
