Ford government must not exclude small communities, schools and parks from blue-box collection: NDP

QUEEN'S PARK — The Ontario NDP's Environment critic, Ian Arthur, issued the following statement in response to documents obtained by The Globe and Mail that suggest the Ford government could exclude small communities, schools and parks from blue-box collection:

“These documents show that the Ford government is wavering on its commitment to municipal blue-box service. If Ford puts in jeopardy rural blue-box collection and blue box collection at schools and parks, that would move Ontario backwards on meeting important waste diversion goals. Instead of letting private interests decide behind closed doors how -or if - this crucial public service is delivered, the government needs to firmly mandate that curbside blue box collection continue for schools, parks and rural communities."
