Horwath to Qualtrough: Mixed messing on migrant work is a “recipe for disaster”
QUEEN’S PARK — As the migrant worker COVID-19 outbreak grows worse, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath has written to federal Minister Carla Qualtrough to call on the federal government to take action when the Ford government fails to protect migrant workers and stop the spread in agricultural operations.
While Qualtrough and the federal government say migrant workers who have tested positive for COVID-19 are not to continue to work at their jobs, the Ford government has issued a directive to keep them in the fields and greenhouses if they’re infected, contagious and asymptomatic.
