While the province has called for a moratorium on evictions during this crisis, and have slowed enforcement of evictions, some landlords haven’t got the message and are still intimidating tenants.
Support an evictions ban and rent support to help tenants and landlords get through the pandemic.
Tenants need real protection during this unprecedented crisis. The province needs to put a legal ban on evictions, lockouts and disconnections — including business tenants — through the pandemic, and a legal ban on threatening to evict or disconnect a tenant’s utilities. Landlords who continue to put the safety of tenants at risk need to face legal consequences.
