Dr. Cotton is one of the greatest professors I have had the privilege of learning with throughout my education thus far. He is an inspiration in every sense of the word and truly wants to see his students grow and hear their unique voices. He is truly empathetic, wise and will make you want to dive into your studies. I could not recommend him more.

Amazing teacher, I loved his class immensely and he also is so accommodating if you can't hand in an assignment on time. 1000% would take again.

One of my favourite courses of my entire undergrad thus far! I feel like I actually learned lasting knowledge rather than those classes that just make you memorize material and then you forget it all after the exam. As an English major, his class resonates with me the most because he shows us the power of literature for humanity, while we learn how to write thoughtfully. His lectures are inspiring, encouraging, and so worth taking.

Professor Cotton is super understanding, his lectures are different from any other professor in the English department. The work he asks of you is reasonable at this level. The class was insightful and incredibly interesting, there was only 2 essays and an exam for the whole year. Would definitely take another course with him!

Despite taking ENGL 161/162 during COVID-19, I felt very supported for all of my assignments due to Dr. Cotton being such a wonderful professor. He is very personable, and he introduced to us such wonderful pieces of literature that I still think about to this day. Now being in fourth year, ENGL 161/162 are still my favourite courses to this day!

Dr. Cotton is by far my favourite professor at Queen's University!! From my personal experience, he is the kindest, most supportive, empathetic, and accommodating professor that I have ever had. By taking his course, I was able to improve my writing skills which have helped me to this day. It was an honour being able to learn from him.

During the virtual Zoom era, one imagines a weakened student-professor relationship. Yet, this could not be more untrue when taught by a prof as genuinely caring and compassionate as Dr. Cotton. Not only did he remember me from a year ago, but he was willing to advocate on my behalf. It is clear Dr. Cotton is a kind, thoughtful, and rare professor.

Dr. Cotton is the absolute best. The info I learned in this class have helped me far more than any other class I took during my UG degree.

Dr. Cotton shows genuine interest and care for the long-term wellbeing of his students. He regularly communicates with students even long after they have moved on from his class. He exudes so much passion for his teachings that it becomes impossible to not be inspired.

Coming from a Science background, the prospect of taking an English class was initially daunting. Professor Cotton put these fears to rest by breaking down the art of English into manageable components. It was an absolute privilege to learn from Dr. Cotton. He was undoubtedly the most outstanding professor I had throughout my undergraduate degree.

Dr. Cotton is such a caring prof and is genuinely excited by the things he teaches! He is extremely understanding of everyone's individual situation and is always willing to help. He also makes course expectations very clear in his lectures which makes essay writing much more enjoyable. 100% would recommend!

Dr. Cotton is an amazing professor! He cares about his students' learning and success. He is also a super engaging, understanding, and kind person to interact with, and has an obvious passion for English. I was so sad to see he isn't teaching ENGL160 this year (I literally told all my friends to take it but then realized he wasn't teaching :().

Professor Cotton is great! A lot of science students take ENGL 161/162 as their requirement, and he is super understanding that we do not have a lot of experience. He is very understanding of our workload and truly cares about his students and what we have to say! I was honestly dreading taking an English course, but it ended up being my favorite.

Professors reveal their true colours during difficult times, and Dr. Adam Cotton revealed utmost care for his students, and his delivery of content. Saying Dr. Cotton is passionate about the material, and his students success would be an understatement. Qualities of supportiveness and accommodation are uniquely found in ENGL162 unseen elsewhere.

Professor Cotton is an excellent lecturer. He provides lots of unique and interesting material for you to explore and dive into, stuff that a lot of us science students would have never really be exposed to if not for him. He is very accommodating with timelines and is nearly always accessible. Easily one of the best profs I have had at Queen's.

Adam is a genuine gift. His lecturer divulge a diverse breadth of material. An uninvested student may find this overwhelming and struggle to link his references to the course and assignments. However, when you give the attention his lectures deserve, as a learner, you enter the most thrilling realm of literary discovery.
