Hello Holsgrove Families,

Upon arriving for their first day, Holsgrove students will be placed with their assigned teacher. Staff will be reaching out at the end of this week to touch base with families, so if your contact information has changed, please let the school know as soon as possible.
Materials:
You may send school supplies (pencils, etc.), but it is not required - students will be given what they need. Mainly, for the beginning of school, students only need the following:
Lunch & snacks
Water bottle (labeled with student’s name)
A mask
Indoor Shoes (to be left at the school)
Change of clothes (for younger students at least)
Unless your child walks to school, we are encouraging you to send them on the bus unless it is absolutely necessary to drive them. This will help us eliminate congestion around the building and maintain as much order as possible. If you absolutely must pick-up or drop off your child(ren), please avoid parking in front of the school or in school parking lots. This makes it extremely difficult for buses to navigate the loading zone, and creates congestion.
When picking-up or dropping off, please bring students to the front gate/main entry of the school. When classes are in, students will be buzzed in by our office administrator. If before school (supervision begins at 8:50 am), students should then head straight to their designated line-up area to await entering the school building. Also if dropping off in the morning, please try to do so as close to 9:10 am as possible, as students will simply be asked to find their line-up area and wait until the entry bell rings. After school, students being picked up or walking will line-up inside of the front gate, and then be dismissed one at a time by a staff member.
Please be aware, parents or other non-staff members will not be permitted inside the school or on the school grounds unless for essential purposes, pre-approved by the school.
Recesses
At recess, students will remain with only the students in their own classes. Each class will have an assigned "Zone" on the schoolyard. Recesses will be staggered to reduce congestion - while half the school is having nutrition break, the other half will be outside, and vice-versa. Students will enter and exit with their classmates, using designated doors for each class.
Bathrooms and Water Fountains
Students will be allowed to leave their class to use the bathroom, but only 1 student at a time. Our large bathrooms will be limited to 2 occupants at any given time, and our smaller bathrooms will be limited to 1. Students will be responsible for checking upon entering, and waiting if needed. Water fountains have been capped, and only filling stations are available.
Returning Borrowed Technology
For those who borrowed Chromebooks or iPads from the school during the closure this Spring, please send these devices back with your son/daughter on the first day of school, if you haven't already. Please remember to include the charging cord! If your child will be participating in remote learning, please keep it with you for now.
Please feel free to contact the school if you have questions or concerns about anything. While I know we had hoped to return with less protocols in place, we must stay vigilant given the current state of the pandemic.
Sincerely,
Aaron West
Principal
