Survey to identify good practices and priorities for parliamentary action

Background
In 2018, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the Latin America and the Caribbean Parliamentary Front against Hunger organised the first Global Parliamentary Summit against Hunger and Malnutrition. At the Summit, parliamentarians from around the world committed to redouble their efforts to ensure Zero Hunger by 2030. In this regard, parliamentarians acknowledged the need to adopt laws and policies to ensure the right to adequate food and access to healthy diets, promote sustainable production and consumption and address gender-based discrimination, among other objectives. They also signalled their intention to strengthen their policy oversight and budget allocation roles and to improve collaboration and coordination with other stakeholders.

With parliamentary action to tackle hunger and malnutrition more necessary than ever, AECID and FAO will bring parliamentarians together for the Second Global Parliamentary Summit against Hunger and Malnutrition, to be held in 2023. The forthcoming Summit will build on a series of virtual parliamentary dialogues on ‘Food Security and Nutrition in the time of COVID-19’ organised as a follow up to the first Summit, as well as on the outcomes of the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) held in September 2021.

To ensure that the forthcoming Second Global Parliamentary Summit against Hunger and Malnutrition addresses priority issues of relevance to parliamentarians, facilitates effective knowledge sharing and inspires action, we ask you to kindly complete the following short survey. This should take only a few minutes. Providing your answers to the survey questions will help the Summit organisers collect examples of good practices by parliamentarians in tackling hunger and malnutrition and promoting sustainable agriculture and food systems. It will also help them identify the priority themes and issues to include on the agenda for the forthcoming Summit.
