A young Black Ajax man who shot and killed a “racist” white Kingston man in a case of self-defence will not spend time in jail after pleading guilty to a firearms charge.

Vaughan Oscar Roberts, 21, initially faced a second-degree murder charge, which was formally withdrawn along with other charges Tuesday at the conclusion of a Kingston trial and sentencing hearing that included expert evidence about the impacts of anti-Black racism.
