News Release
August 11, 2021

On July 28, Toronto Public Health (TPH) announced that the City of Toronto operated COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Mitchell Field Community Centre (CC) would be closing as of August 22 as a part of the next phase in TPH’s vaccination strategy. Given new information and the current vaccination situation in Toronto, TPH has made the decision to continue to run a smaller fixed-site clinic at Mitchell Field CC. The clinic will serve as a key site for both COVID-19 vaccination and other vaccination programs operated by TPH.

As of August 23, the clinic will accept walk-in appointments for COVID-19 vaccinations from Tuesday to Saturday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. These are the same hours of operation as the other City-run immunization clinics that are remaining open – Cloverdale Mall, the Hangar, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, and Scarborough Town Centre. Extending the operation of the Mitchell Field CC clinic will ensure that communities in North York have continued access to COVID-19 vaccines.

TPH continues to work with hospital and other health care partners across the city to provide sustained access to COVID-19 vaccines. To help reach communities with low vaccination rates and communicate resources and information to equity-deserving and hard-to-reach groups across Toronto, TPH continues to support low-barrier, hyper-local clinics as part of the next phase of its COVID-19 vaccination program.

This approach includes community ambassador outreach, an effective, customized approach to connect with people in their own community, in their language, in a culturally relevant manner, to help remove barriers that are keeping residents from being vaccinated.
