Starting tomorrow, all nine City of Toronto vaccination clinics will be offering walk-in vaccinations for anyone age 12 and older needing a first or second dose of COVID-19 vaccine. By lowering the barrier to vaccination across Toronto, the City is working to reach the approximately 20 per cent of Toronto adults who have not initiated vaccination and the 125,000 people who can accelerate a second dose scheduled for later in the year.
The City-run Toronto Congress Centre vaccination clinic opened to adult-only walk-ins on July 8. On the first day accepting walk-ins, more than 300 people attended the clinic, prompting the City to open three additional clinics to build on that success.
Starting tomorrow, Thursday, July 22, all nine City-run vaccination clinics will open to youth and adult walk-ins between noon and 7 p.m. Eligible residents who need a second dose and those who have yet to receive a first dose can be vaccinated immediately. Anyone taking advantage of the walk-in option to accelerate their second dose should cancel any existing second dose appointment, whether at a City-run or partner clinic. Walk-ins should always prepare for a short wait that may include time lining up outdoors.
Getting both doses of vaccine is the best defense against COVID-19, including the Delta variant. All people age 12 and older can also book first dose or accelerated second dose vaccination appointment through the dark blue “Book a Vaccine” button on toronto.ca/covid-19 or by calling the provincial vaccine booking line at 1-833-943-3900.
Toronto Public Health is reporting 38 new cases of COVID-19 in Toronto today. Since the start of the pandemic there have been a total of 170,398 cases of COVID-19. There are 39 people hospitalized. To date, there have been 3,598 COVID-19 deaths in Toronto. In total, 166,510 people have recovered. Case status data can be found on Toronto Public Health’s reporting dashboard.
Toronto is now Step Three of the Province of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen. As the city progresses through the provincial reopening framework, all people are reminded to continue following public health advice, including practising physical distancing and wearing a mask when physical distancing is not possible.
