News Release
November 23, 2021

More than 28,000 first-dose COVID-19 vaccine appointments have been booked for residents five to 11 years old so far today at the City’s five major kid-friendly immunization clinics.

A total of 30,000 appointments were made available today through the Team Toronto Kids COVID-19 vaccination plan. These appointments were 93 per cent booked by noon this morning. With 200,000 eligible kids in the city, this represents more than 14 per cent of all kids already with an appointment to get their COVID-19 vaccine.

In response to the immediate demand, the City has now added more than 17,000 first-dose appointments for residents five to 11 years old at its five immunization clinics between December 7 and 11.

A total of more than 47,000 vaccine appointments for kids at the City-run immunization clinics are now available over the next two and a half weeks.

Limited appointments are still available for residents five to 11 years old between November 25 and December 5, spread across the City of Toronto’s five immunization clinics:

  • Cloverdale Mall, 250 The East Mall
  • Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 255 Front St. W.
  • Mitchell Field Arena, 89 Church Ave.
  • Scarborough Town Centre, 300 Borough Dr.
  • Woodbine Mall, 500 Rexdale Blvd.

Appointments for City-run immunization clinics can be booked by Toronto residents by visiting the City’s COVID-19 webpage and clicking the blue button or by calling the provincial vaccine booking line at 1-833-943-3900. Appointments will continued to be added in the near future, as the vaccination campaign progresses and additional supply is confirmed and received.

Parents and guardians looking to vaccinate their child against COVID-19 may also attend a Team Toronto vaccination clinic administered by a Toronto hospital or health care partner, a local pharmacy and/or participating family health team. Visit the provincial website to find the closest pharmacy locations offering the paediatric Pfizer dose.

If residents book a new appointment or get their vaccine prior to their appointment time, they should cancel their original booking on the provincial vaccine portal to allow for the timeslot to be reserved by someone else.

School-based COVID-19 mobile vaccine clinics will also begin this week. Parents, caregivers and students will receive clinic information directly from their school and school board when a clinic is available to them. Toronto Public Health (TPH) has shared resources with school boards to distribute to the school community including how to prepare children for vaccination, how to book appointments, upcoming education sessions, vaccine facts and community resources.

TPH encourages all parents and guardians to book a first dose appointment for children five to 11 years old if they have not already done so. Getting the COVID-19 vaccine will lower the risk of serious illness, hospitalisation and death, while preserving in-person learning and activities as people move indoors during the colder months. If parents and guardians have questions or concerns about the vaccine, TPH encourages them to seek information from trusted health professionals and credible sources. More information can be found on the City’s COVID-19: Children & Vaccines page.

“Vaccinating children and youth will protect them from COVID-19 and lower the risk of serious illness, hospitalization and death. Thank you to all the parents and guardians who registered their children for appointments this morning and to all the kids who will be getting their vaccine soon: you are all superheroes by doing your part in getting vaccinated and help keep our city safe.”
– Dr. Eileen de Villa, Medical Officer of Health

“In just four hours this morning, nearly 30,000 appointments were booked for five to 11 year olds at City-run clinics. That means that approximately 14 per cent of all eligible Toronto kids are already signed up to get their first dose. Toronto, you’ve truly stepped up. In response, we’re opening up additional appointments for kids. Later this week, vaccines will also be available at school and community-based clinics, doctors’ offices, and pharmacies, so that families can choose the time and place that works best for them.”
– Councillor Joe Cressy (Spadina-Fort York), Chair of the Toronto Board of Health
