Workshop on Pressbooks with Dr. Christina Hendricks

Reuse, revise, repeat: Exploring Ways to Customize Open Educational Resources for Your Teaching/Learning Context

Tuesday, October 20, 12:15 - 2:15 p.m.

Register here:  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/122425637377

Description:  Open Educational Resources (OER) are resources such as textbooks, videos, images and more, that are free of cost to access digitally and that have an open license that allows reuse, revision, and redistribution. In addition to the cost savings for students if faculty replace commercial resources in their courses with OER, there are significant benefits to being able to revise OER: e.g., they can be adapted to better fit a particular course or context and can also be kept up to date. In this workshop we will start with a brief introduction to OER and to licensing and attribution considerations when adapting OER. In the second half of the workshop participants will learn some basics of how to use Pressbooks and have a chance to practice adapting an open textbook in that platform.
This hands-on workshop will be limited to 25 participants.
