Bike Parking

Bike racks to lock your bike are available throughout Victoria. Improved bike parking options include the free Downtown Bike Valet, participating Borrow a Bike Lock locations and all City parkades which offer free, covered bike parking.

Downtown Victoria Bike Valet

This coat-check style service provides a convenient and secure parking option for people riding and rolling and is located on Pandora Avenue between Government and Douglas Street at Centennial Square.

The free bike valet accommodates all active transportation devices including adaptive bikes, cargo bikes, bike trailers, jogging strollers and other personal mobility devices.

Hours of Operation

January to April 2024*

Monday to Thursday: 7:30 a.m.- 6 p.m.
Friday: 7:30 a.m.-8 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
Sunday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

*Please note the service may temporarily close due to extreme weather conditions.

Bikes cannot be left overnight. After operating hours, bikes are left at the owner’s risk and are subject to a $20 retrieval fee. To pick up a leftover bike, please email thelocker@capitalbike.ca to schedule a pick-up time. Bikes left for over seven days will be impounded with the Victoria Police Department or donated to Re-Buy-Cycle Shop.

    Borrow a Bike Lock

    High-quality u-locks are available to borrow at nearly 25 locations across Victoria. Check in with staff to borrow a lock for free while you visit.

    Remember: Cable locks don’t cut it. U-locks locked to the bottom of the rack are the safest way to secure your bike.

    If you would like to have u-locks available for visitors to your business, apply to be a Borrow a Bike Lock partner. Participation in the program is free. U-locks and all materials are provided by the City. Program details and requirements will be confirmed with approved businesses.

    Register Your Bike

    Register your bike for free with 529 Garage, the registration system used by the Victoria Police Department, to help recover your bike in case it gets stolen.

    If your bike is stolen, report it to VicPD to get a case number and alert the community through the 529 Garage app.

    Register Your Bike 

    Help deter bike theft by purchasing a 529 Garage shield. These are available at any local bike shop in the City of Victoria. You can also get one for free with easy registration at the Downtown Victoria Bike Valet.

    Request a Public Bike Rack

    The City makes and installs simple, secure, inverted U-style bicycle racks that can accommodate two bikes at a time. They can also be installed in series to create additional parking. The City does not sell bike racks to private property owners.

    The City also considers requests for public bicycle corrals or shelters in high-demand areas. Email eng@victoria.ca with your ideas and let us know if have you spoken to your neighbours about their parking needs.

    Yates Street Parkade

    The Yates Street Parkade has been upgraded with the first floor repaved, improved accessible vehicle parking and increased and upgraded bike parking with better lighting- right by the main entrance.

    Bike Parking at Schools

    In partnership with School District 61, covered bike parking is available at schools in Victoria, including:

    • Sundance-Bank Elementary
    • Margaret Jenkins Elementary
    • Oaklands Elementary
    • Quadra Elementary
    • Sir James Douglas Elementary
    • James Bay Community School

    High quality u-locks are also available at several schools in Victoria for students, parents and visitors to borrow when needed through our Borrow a Bike Lock Program. Ask office staff for details.
